About The Recipe Collector
My Story
Welcome to my website! My name is Sandra Weicht, and I am the Recipe Collector. I have been collecting recipes for 28 years. I know it's been 28 years because that is how long I have been married! I have collected recipes from friends, family, neighbors, cookbooks, magazines, newspapers, and the internet.
When it comes to food there are three things I love. The first is...food! I LOVE good food. The second thing I love is cooking food, especially for friends and family. The third is - I love collecting recipes. I have cookbooks, magazines, files of recipe clippings, and recipe boxes filled with my collection. Yes, collecting recipes is an addiction, but I simply can't help myself! I decided to do a blog (with the help of my daughter, Anna) so that I can continue to feed my addiction! Truthfully, I love cooking so much, I thought it would be fun to share that love with you. I hope that as I go through these recipes, you will be inspired to try your hand in cooking. I admit that I am not very creative when it comes to creating my own recipes (although I do have a few), but I am creative in taking a recipe and making it my own. I adjust recipes in order to fit my own tastes.
Often times, I take several recipes, and as I have been cooking for a long time, I can usually tell what works, what needs to stay the same, and what I want to change. For example, I have three different versions of Lemon Puding cake. I will take what I think will make a good recipe from the three versions and make my own recipe. If possible, I will let you know where you can find the different recipes I used as inspiration for my own 'ultimate' recipe. I will not always be able to give where I got some recipes as some of my recipe clippings are from the 80s, and I no longer have the original source.
In conclusion, this is what I do - I research and compare recipes and then come up with what I think will be the ultimate recipe. Make sense? I hope so! I really want my cooking demonstrations to be an inspiration to you. I hope my recipes will make you want to try your hand at cooking, and maybe you will come to love cooking as much as I do. Perhaps, you will try your hand at collecting your own recipes. Even if all I can do, is show you how fun cooking (and eating what you cook) can be I consider it a worthy goal.

About Anna
Hello! I'm the person that does all the technical aspects of the blog. I take care of the editing, email, and website. Sandra is the one to take care of the cooking, recipes, and social media.
I got involved with this adventure when I was trying to decide what to do next after university. Sandra (who happens to be my mother) asked me if I would be interested in helping her start a blog. She wasn't sure if she could figure out all the technical aspects of doing one, so she asked if I would be willing to be her partner on this adventure. I though it was an amazing idea! So we started to figure out the logistics, and what we would need to do in order to make her idea turn into reality.
I enjoy food and even occasionally cook, but I am by no means an expert. I think that It is great having someone who has been cooking for so many years plus someone who is a novice. We have different perspectives then!
I'm excited to be on this adventure with everyone! Please be patient with me as both of us (Sandra and I) are learning as we go.
